The Commission honored former Detroit police chief James White and retiring Judge Deborah Thomas for their years of service, and approved an amendment to the county code allowing the legislative auditor general to remain in that role after 10 years until a successor is appointed.

The Wayne County Commission and its employees are the legislative branch of county government. The chief role of the commission is to adopt a budget and enact ordinances. The commission also approves contracts, appointments and rules.
The money is spent and ordinances are enforced through the administrative branch. The $1.5 billion budget runs the county operations that serve the more than 1.8 million people living in Wayne County.
Ordinance Revision The Wayne County Commission will hold a public hearing at its meeting 10 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 3 on ordinance revisions that will:
AMEND CHAPTER 65 OF THE WAYNE COUNTY CODE OF ORDINANCES, "AUDITOR GENERAL", TO REVISE SECTION 65-2 TO ALLOW AN INDIVIDUAL SERVING AS THE LEGISLATIVE AUDITOR GENERAL TO CONTINUE TO SERVE IN THE POSITION AFTER TEN CUMULATIVE YEARS UNTIL A SUCCESSOR IS APPOINTED.
Item IV: No corrections to the journal/Passed Item V: Recognition of James White (retirement from DPD and congratulating him for his appointment to DWIN) Receiving a resolution from Wayne County Commission

XII: Reconsiderations: None XIII: Remarks by Members Commissioner David Knezek gave a shout out Alicia Bradford. He noted how easy it is to work with her, that she is knowledgeable and simply wonderful to work with as dealing with himself and others could not be easy.
